Greetings to all our owners, friends and supporters!

Well that was a mighty early taste of winter we got a few weeks back.  At least all that white stuff didn’t stick around too long but something tells me there’s more where that came from.  

Do you remember promising yourself that next year, you’d replace the weather-stripping before it got cold?  Well you’re in good company.  Looks like we’ve got the perfect weekend to get ready for the inevitable.  Luckily your friendly neighbourhood hardware store has got everything you need: weather-stripping, a wide assortment of furnace filters (it’s recommended that you replace them every second month), snow shovels, ice scrapers, car snow-brushes, ice melt, and lots more.  And it’s not too late to get a composter.  The City offers them once a year at the deep- discounted price of just $30.  We have the same model at the same price (and you don’t have to stand in line an hour to buy it, either).  Toss in your fall leaves and kitchen scraps, and you’ll have rich garden soil come spring.    

And of course, Christmas will be here before we know it.  Here’s just a short list of gift ideas to get you thinking:

1. Kitchenware – Check out our crepe pans, apple-peelers, and the ever-popular Hunky Bill Perogy Makers.  We also have wooden pizza paddles and a wide assortment of cast iron cookware.  And we’ll soon be carrying the Umbra line, too.  Our first order should be coming in any time. 2. Wooden, Canadian-made toboggans – These were really popular last year, in fact we sold out before Christmas.  So we ordered lots this year, in a few sizes.  Get one before they’re gone.    

3. Kids’ toys – We’ve got a great assortment of retro tin wind-up toys, Radio Flyer wagons, hardwood sleighs, eco-toys, and lots more.    

4. Paderno Sale – this cookware is renown for its high quality.  We’ll be getting a wide assortment in.  This year we’re offering three weekly sales: a fall one, November 18-22, a pre-Christmas sale Dec 9 – 13, and a Boxing Week sale Dec 27-31.  Great deals abound.

5. Tool rentals – did you know Pollock’s rents tools?  New additions include a snowblower, table saw, and a mitre saw.  Call for details.  

6. Tool Sharpening Service – This includes saws, knives and scissors, too.

8. Retro items:  Did you know that we have a great stock of old crocks, old and new washboards, register covers, and even some sock stretchers (for those of us old enough to remember).  

9. Save the date!  Annual General Meeting (AGM) – 7:00 pm November 30th.  Details to follow.  

10. Fall Hours:  Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, Saturdays 8:00 to 6:00, and Sundays noon to 5:00.  

11. No Parking on Main Street 3:30 to 5:30:  City Hall sure surprised us with this one.  We get the point of diamond lanes closer to downtown but traffic seems light enough where we are.  Don’t get a ticket, we have lots of parking space in the back of the store.
